King receives Patriarch Sabbah
His Majesty King Abdullah greets Patriarch Michel Sabbah,
head of the Roman Catholic Church in the Holy Lands on Tuesday.
During a meeting with the patriarch at the Royal Court, the King stressed
the importance of the monotheist religions' role in enhancing moral values,
positive behaviour and spreading the spirit of tolerance among nations.
The Monarch called for exerting more efforts to strengthen these values,
noting that Jordan constitutes a model of Muslim-Christian coexistence.
King Abdullah said the Amman Message highlighted the bright image of Islam,
which calls for moderation and tolerance and rejects violence, extremism and bigotry.
Patriarch Sabbah said he appreciated Jordan's efforts in taking care of Christian holy
sites in the Kingdom. Royal Court Minister Samir Rifai, the King's Adviser on Islamic
Affairs and Chief Islamic Justice Izzeddine Khatib Tamimi, the King's Adviser Akel
Biltaji and Roman Catholic Bishop in Jordan Saleem Sayegh attended the meeting
