Fayez, Mulki hold talks with Kuwaiti foreign minister

AMMAN (Petra) — Prime Minister Faisal Fayez on Wednesday conferred with visiting Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Mohammad Sabah Al Salem Al Sabah on Jordanian-Kuwaiti-relations. Foreign Minster Hani Mulki and Kuwait's Ambassador to Jordan Yousef Oneizi attended the meeting. Discussion also covered the situation in Iraq and preparations for the elections scheduled for the end of January. Following the meeting, Mulki said Kuwait and Jordan hold similar views concerning the Iraqi elections, in which all political factions should participate. “We will listen to the assessment of the situation in Iraq from the foreign ministers of Iraq and Saudi Arabia and we should make sure that there will be no intervention from any source in the elections, which should be free and democratic representing the views of all Iraqis,” Mulki said.

The Kuwaiti minister said Jordan and Kuwait were “both concerned with the situation in Iraq because any disturbances would have a direct impact on our countries. It is vitally important to ensure a united and strong Iraq, serving as an element for stability and enjoying democracy.” Sheikh Sabah said he discussed with Fayez his coming visit to Kuwait to hold talks on a host of issues of mutual concern, as well as Arab affairs, the situation in Iraq and the implementation of the roadmap peace plan.
