Exports of Al Hassan Industrial Estate surge by 31% to $422m last year
AMMAN (Petra) — Exports of Al Hassan Industrial Estate rose by 31 per cent
during the last year to $422 million compared to $322 million in 2003.
According to Maher Nasser, president of the Irbid Chamber of Industry,
exports of garments and textiles ranked first, accounting for $394 million
or 93.5 per cent of the total. Engineering industries ranked second, bringing
in $14 million or around 3.5 per cent. Veterinary and agricultural industries
were in the third place, accounting for $7.5 million or about two per cent
while stone and marble exports in addition to plastic industries and domestic
and chemical supplies accounted for the remaining two per cent, bringing in $6.5 million.
