Halaiqa meets US, Polish delegations
AMMAN (Petra) — Acting Prime Minister Mohammad Halaiqa on Monday urged a visiting US economic delegation to examine prospects for US participation in major economic projects which the government is planning to launch in the coming stage.The delegation, led by April Foley, vice board chairperson of the US Export – Import Bank expressed her country's interest in developing Jordanian US trade exchanges.
She said the bank is currently studying prospects for financing Royal Jordanian's purchase of Boeing commercial planes to expand its fleet and meet the growing demand for air travel in the Middle East region.
Also on Monday, Halaiqa met a Polish delegation led by the minister of trade to discuss ways for increasing Polish-Jordanian trade exchanges and promote cooperation in tourism.
In briefing the delegation on incentives for investment in the Kingdom, Halaiqa said Polish firms and businessmen can also invest in projects jointly with Jordanian business institutions and called for the establishment of a Jordan-Poland business council.
Following the meeting, Halaiqa said Jordan is hoping to create alliances with Polish firms to carry out projects for the reconstruction of Iraq.
