20 citizens detained in Iraq released
AMMAN (JT) — Foreign Minister Marwan Muasher announced that the US-led forces in Iraq have released a new group of 20 Jordanian detainees on Saturday.Muasher told the Jordan News Agency, Petra, that the citizens are expected to arrive in Amman on board two International Committee of the Red Cross airplanes.
He said Jordan would continue efforts to release the rest of the detainees in Iraq.
In December, five citizens arrived home after they were released from a detention centre run by US-led coalition in the port town of Um Qasr in southern Iraq.
The 25 released so far were among 37 Jordanians who were arrested by the coalition forces in Iraq after the fall of the former Iraqi regime last year.
