King concludes Davos visit

AMMAN (Petra) — His Majesty King Abdullah on Saturday returned home after taking part in the World Economic Forum's annual meeting in Davos.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the King on Friday met US Vice President Dick Cheney for talks on Iraq. He stressed the need to preserve the territorial integrity of the Arab country and empower the Iraqis. Cheney expressed appreciation for Jordan's efforts to train the Iraqi army, police and diplomatic personnel. The two sides also discussed the Palestinian situation and bilateral relations. King Abdullah said Jordan appreciates the US's support for the Kingdom's economic reforms.

Also on Friday, the Monarch met Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin for talks on the Middle East peace. On bilateral ties, the two sides discussed prospects for a Jordanian-Canadian free trade deal.
