Mulki urges Syrian involvement
in dialogue between Palestinian factions
AMMAN (JT) — Foreign Minister Hani Mulki and his Egyptian counterpart Ahmad Abul
Gheit on Monday discussed in Cairo the Palestinian situation.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Rajab Sukayri told the Jordan News Agency, Petra,
that Mulki, who also held talks with Palestinian envoy to the UN Nasser Kidwa,
suggested Syria be involved in Egypt's efforts to engage Palestinian factions in
dialogue.
Such an involvement should help revive peace talks between Syria and Israel,
Mulki was quoted by Petra as saying. Mulki is expected to meet his Israeli
counterpart Silvan Shalom at the World Economic Forum in Davos next Wednesday to
discuss the peace process.
Their talks are expected to tackle the roadmap to the Middle East peace process
and Israel's unilateral withdrawal plan from Gaza.
