Conference on media and good governance begins Feb.14
AMMAN (JT) — The Centre for Defending Freedom of
Journalists (CDFJ) will hold its 6th international conference on media and good
governance between Feb.14-16 at Le Meridian Hotel.
The event, held under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah, will bring
together around 250 figures representing political, economic and media
institutions from around the world.
CDFJ President Nidal Mansour said 12 international media institutions would be
presented with commemorative shields in recognition of their efforts over the
past decades in defending press freedoms, democracy and human rights.
Mansour said the event seeks to launch a dialogue among international and Arab
politicians on good governance concepts and the need to give media a larger role
in the political reform processes.
Nine sessions will be held over the three days of the conference, tackling good
governance in the world and the Arab countries, current Arab reform initiatives
as well as the role of media in supporting good governance concepts.
Established in early 1999, the CDFJ is a nonprofit civil organisation that
advocates freedom of journalism and information distribution.
