'Gov't committed to
studying all reports pertaining to human rights in Kingdom'
By Rana Husseini
AMMAN Government Spokesperson Nasser Judeh on
Wednesday said the government takes every press release or report that is issued
by human rights organisations on Jordan very seriously.
We take all international reports and items regarding freedom and democratic
reforms in Jordan very seriously and we analyse their contents carefully, Judeh
told The Jordan Times.
The spokeperson's comments were made after Human Rights Watch (HRW), a US-based
organisation, called for an end to alleged torture of detainees by Jordanian
security forces.
Deputy Director of HRW's Middle East and North Africa division Joe Stork on
Tuesday urged the Kingdom to root out continuing serious rights abuses in
Jordan.
Judeh said the government is committed to fully studying all reports pertaining
to human rights in the Kingdom in order to arrive at a clear position in the
utmost transparent and objective manner.
