Investments in new projects decline in 2003
AMMAN (Petra) — Investments benefiting from the Investment Promotion Law totaled JD261 million last year, 13.3 per cent less than those of 2002 when the total stood at JD301 million, according to figures issue by the Jordan Investment Board. Besides the value, the number of projects also dropped to 288 from 310 in 2002. The industrial sector accounted for the largest portion of last year's investments, with 261 projects at JD239 million. Investments in the fields of hotels, agriculture and hospitals followed at JD12 million, JD6 million and JD4 million respectively. Recreational facilities and tourism promotion came last at JD90,000.
