Jordan becomes executive
committee member of Arab Red Crescent, Red Cross societies
Jordan became a member of the executive committee of the Arab Red Crescent and
Red Cross societies at the organisation’s general assembly in Doha on Wednesday.
During the meeting, participants called on the international community,
including member states of The Hague Protocol for the Protection of Cultural
Property, to stop Israel’s excavation work near Al Aqsa Mosque and to assist in
preserving Jerusalem’s holy sites. The commission also decided to renominate
Mohammad Hadid, president of the Jordan Red Crescent Society, as chairperson of
the Red Cross and Red Crescent permanent committee for a third consecutive term.
