Exports from Irbid to US rise 18% during January
IRBID (Petra) — Exports of Irbid's manufacturing companies rose last month by 18 per cent, reaching $34 million compared to $29 million during January 2003. Exports to the US from the Qualified Industrial Zones were 33 per cent higher at $28 million or 83 per cent of Irbid's total exports, compared to $21 million during January of last year. According to the director of Irbid's Department of Industry and Trade, Ali Sarehein, the number of companies exporting products to the US reached 15 compared to 12 during January 2003. Currently, Irbid's Al Hassan Industrial Estate and Cyber City provide 21,000 job opportunities, mainly in the garments industry, he said.
