Fayez meets with US
treasury official
Prime Minister Faisal Fayez on Thursday met with US Treasury Undersecretary for
the Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Stuart Levey. During the
meeting, Fayez stressed Jordan's appreciation for US assistance, which
contributes to the enhancement of the Kingdom's economy. Fayez also said Jordan
was concerned with fighting terrorism and its financing sources to preserve
security and stability in the Kingdom and the region. The premier pointed out
that the Cabinet would endorse a draft law on fighting money laundering to be
presented to the Parliament. Levey commended the performance of the Jordanian
economy and the transparency of the banking apparatuses.
