Energy Ministry & Brazilian Company conclude MoU on oil shale hunting
Amman, Feb. 2 (Petra) Ministry of Energy and
Brazilian Petrobras Company on Thursday signed Minute of Understanding to
exploit oil shale for oil production in Al Attarat area.
The MoU comes in implementation of the government decision to open the door for
oil shale investment to world companies, who are technically and financially
capable of carrying out such projects, Energy Minister, who signed the MoU said
following the signing ceremony. It is also part of the ministry’s efforts to
attract companies interested in investing in oil shale as a source of energy, he
added. To that end, the ministry signed four agreements last year with Shell,
the International Company for Oil Shale Investment, the Jordanian Oil Shale
Company and the Jordanian Company for Mining and Energy.
