5 Jordanians released in
Iraq
AMMAN (Petra) — The US forces in Iraq released five Jordanian drivers they
detained in December on suspicion of involvement in an attack, an official said
on Thursday.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Rajab Sukayri said the embassy in Baghdad was
taking necessary measures to ensure the return of Mohamad Darabseh, Mamdouh
Sukhnei, Ali Arbaa, Ali Atyeh and Omar Sarsour back home as soon as possible.
The spokesperson explained the drivers were stationed with their trucks at
Baghdad's Al Ameriyah garage when they were apprehended by the US troops after
gunmen attacked a nearby police station. The soldiers apparently had information
that the gunmen had taken refuge in the garage.
