Aid convoy heads to
Palestinian territories
AMMAN (Petra) — A new aid convoy was dispatched to the Palestinian territories
on Monday under directives of His Majesty King Abdullah to help ease the
suffering of the Palestinian people. The 11 trucks are laden with 160 tonnes of
food items, clothing and blankets donated by Arab charities. Last week, a
similar convoy was dispatched to the West Bank and Gaza Strip carrying 160
tonnes of milk, food parcels, medicine, blankets, school- bags and electrical
generators donated by the Yemeni and South African governments. The Jordanian
Hashemite Charity Organisation, in coordination with the Jordan Armed Forces
Crisis Management Centre, has sent 223 convoys to Palestinian territories since
March 2006.
