Aid convoy heads to Palestinian territories

AMMAN (Petra) — A new aid convoy was dispatched to the Palestinian territories on Monday under directives of His Majesty King Abdullah to help ease the suffering of the Palestinian people. The 11 trucks are laden with 160 tonnes of food items, clothing and blankets donated by Arab charities. Last week, a similar convoy was dispatched to the West Bank and Gaza Strip carrying 160 tonnes of milk, food parcels, medicine, blankets, school- bags and electrical generators donated by the Yemeni and South African governments. The Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organisation, in coordination with the Jordan Armed Forces Crisis Management Centre, has sent 223 convoys to Palestinian territories since March 2006.
