Housing project targets
low-income citizens
ZARQA (Petra) — Officials at the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO)
on Tuesday briefed the press on the progress of a huge urban development project
targeting low-income citizens in Zarqa. A total of 7,000 apartments are being
built on an area of 200 dunums at a cost of JD250 million. HUDCO Director
General Shihadeh Abu Hudeib said access roads for the project have been opened,
while 70 per cent of the sewage network has been completed. The corporation has
partnered with the UAE developer, Taamer, in the large-scale project. The
official said the price of each apartment would not exceed JD16,000, compared to
at least double that for average apartments in Amman.
