US Higher Studies
Resource Centre Opens at UJ
US Charge d'Affaires in Jordan David Hale and University of Jordan President
Abdul Rahim Huneiti opened a US Higher Studies Resource Centre at the UJ
Language Centre on Tuesday. The centre, equipped through the “American Corners”
programme of the US Department of State, provides materials to complement the
curricula of the American studies graduate programme at IJ, and includes
written, audio-visual and interactive materials encompassing US history,
culture, society, policy and business, as well as equipment for interactive
linkages and digital video conferencing. It is one of nearly 300 such centres
established at libraries, universities and other institutions worldwide and is
part of an US government effort to encourage academic exchange and mutual
understanding. The centre and its materials are available for use beyond the
graduate programme, with a wide range of potential activities under
consideration, according to a US embassy statement.
