US delegation meets with senior officials

AMMAN (Petra) — A visiting delegation of US Senate aides on Sunday met with senior officials for talks on bilateral relations, especially in the parliamentary field and regional political developments. Senate President Zeid Rifai briefed the delegates on reforms to improve the living conditions of citizens. The delegates discussed the same issues with Senator Faisal Fayez, who chairs the Senate's Foreign Affairs Committee. Fayez acquainted the delegates on Jordan's contributions to the global war on terror and efforts to clear the name of Islam of accusations of terrorism and violence. He also clarified the Kingdom's position on issues like arms race, the Palestinian issue and reforms. Also on Sunday, Foreign Minister Abdul Ilah Khatib met with the delegates, and held a separate meeting with US Security Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process General Keith Dayton.
