Zu’bi visits
USAID-Rule of Law Project
Minister of Justice Sharif Zu’bi highlighted efforts to develop national courts
working closely with the USAID-funded MASAQ Rule of Law Project during his visit
to the project’s headquarters on Wednesday. Discussions focused on forming a
joint committee to follow up on progress in automation of national courts,
identify court needs and suggest viable recommendations for mechanisms to
further upgrade court processes and procedures, decreasing litigation duration.
Cooperation between the ministry and MASAQ will be extended to include
automating the execution and notifications departments with a tailor-made
computer system to support their diverse needs. During the meeting, Zu’bi
emphasised the role of the MASAQ project in achieving national model courts by
2008. He also expressed interest in MASAQ’s cooperation with the Justice
Ministry to arrange study tours abroad to visit model courts in other countries,
with the goal of adopting and adapting these examples for Jordan.
