King, Queen meet with US
delegation
AMMAN (Petra) — Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania on Thursday met
with a US congressional delegation currently visiting the Kingdom. During the
meeting, the Monarch said that the country will continue its drive to boost the
economy despite the continuous rise in fuel prices at the international level,
which adversely affects the Kingdom's socio-economic plans. The King also
reviewed the latest political developments in the Palestinian territories. He
confirmed that the coming weeks will see developments with the formation of the
new Palestinian government by Hamas, and following Israeli elections. Regarding
Iraq, the King called on the international community to support efforts for
peace and stability.
Also yesterday, Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit met with the US delegation and
voiced the country's appreciation for US aid to the Kingdom, which helps the
country implement development projects.
