King returns from US
His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday returned after a several-day visit to the
US, where he held talks with senior officials, politicians and key figures on
bilateral ties and regional issues.
The King met with President George W. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, congressmen and representatives of Arab,
Muslim and Jewish American organisations.
The Monarch also participated in a conference of major IT firms and discussed
with senior executives of top companies means to invest in Jordan. He also
discussed cooperation with head of World Bank James Wolfensohn.
During the trip, Georgetown University conferred on King Abdullah an honorary
doctorate in humanities and literature, and he also accepted the Franklin Delano
Roosevelt International Disability Award at the UN.
The King, who spoke to leading media outlets about the situation of the Middle
East and Jordan's reform plans, announced that Petra will host Nobel Prize
laureates at a May conference.
