King Departs For Saudi Arabia
Amman, March 27.(Petra)- His Majesty King Abdullah II on Tuesday, departed for
Saudi Arabia to participate in the Arab Summit, which will start in Riyadh on
Wednesday.
Arab leaders will discuss during the two-day summit, a number of issues and
challenges facing the Arab nation, particularly the Palestinian Issue, ways to
enhance the peace process, in addition to the Iraqi and Lebanese issues.
His Majesty voiced hope that the Arab summit would come up with a unified Arab
stance on these issues. He also expressed hope that the summit would activate
the Arab peace initiative, which was approved by the Arab leaders during the
2002 Beirut summit and rally international support for the initiative with a
view to finding a just solution to the Palestinian issue.
The official delegation taking part in the summit include HRH Prince Faisal Ben
Al Hussein, Prime Minister Marouf Al Bakhit, Director's of the King's Office
Bassem Awadallah, Foreign Minister Abdul Ilah Al Khatib and Director of the
Intelligence Department, major General Mohammad Thahabi.
The King is also accompanied by Lower House Speaker Abdul Hadi Majali and the
King's Advisor Ali Al Fazza'.
HRH Prince Ali Ben Al Hussein was sworn in as argent in the presence of cabinet
ministers.
