Record number of participants as SOFEX 2006 opens
AMMAN — The Special Operations Forces Exhibition
2006 (SOFEX) opened on Tuesday, displaying the latest counterterrorism equipment
from all over the world.
Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah, HRH Prince Feisal inaugurated the
event yesterday.
Wide-ranging, state-of-the-art defence, security and anti-terrorism arms as well
as military vehicles and aircraft are on display at the military fair.
Roughly 300 special operations and homeland security exhibitors, representing
some 50 countries, showcased their latest technologies to senior government
officials from the Middle East and from around the world.
“SOFEX 2006 is gearing up to be the most successful edition to date, with the
highest number of exhibitors, delegates and visitors participating, SOFEX 2006
Managing Director Amer Tabbah said In his opening address.
“We are expecting a number of big announcements to be made during the
exhibition, further demonstrating the importance that has been attached to the
SOFEX series as the only special operations forces exhibition in the region,”
Tabbah added.
