Conference on transportation systems begins April
13
AMMAN (JT) — An international conference on roads
and traffic entitled the “Jordan International Conference on Sustainable
Development of Transportation Systems” will be held in Amman between April 13
and 15 of this year.
The conference, organised by the Jordan Engineers Association (JEA), encompasses
several areas related to roads and traffic including transportation planning,
traffic operations, roadway and traffic design, advanced technology
applications, as well as transportation economics, according to a statement
released by the JEA committee on roads and traffic.
The meeting, to be held under the patronage of Prime Minister Faisal Fayez,
primarily aims at developing transportation systems and enhancing traffic flow,
safety, and environmental quality, Faris Mouasher, a member of the organising
committee said.
The event will provide a platform for professionals in the field to share
knowledge with participants through technical papers that will be presented,
each followed by discussions.
Besides Jordan, participants will come from the United States, Canada,
Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Finland, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Kuwait, Bahrain,
Iran, Yemen and others.
Six keynote speakers were selected to present material, from their research on
the latest technologies in transportation systems.
Training seminars will be offered by international lecturers at Al Hussein
Cultural Centre to those interested on April 11 and 12, two days before the
conference opens, the statement said.
They will cover subjects such as transportation planning and modelling, roadway
construction zones, transportation management and the relation between
transportation and the environment.
