Muasher discusses peace process with Italian, UN officials
AMMAN (Petra) — Foreign Minister Marwan Muasher
on Sunday discussed the Middle East peace process and proposed reforms in the
Arab region with visiting Italian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Senator
Alfredo Luigi Mantica and his accompanying delegation.
Muasher reviewed the efforts Jordan is exerting to convene the Arab summit as
soon as possible, following Tunis' unilateral decision to call off the meeting
last week.
The foreign minister said the summit is expected to come up with resolutions
that would push the peace process forward and produce a self-reform document
that should maintain harmony with Arab values and culture.
Also on Sunday, Muasher met with UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East
Peace Process Terje Roed Larsen. The two officials discussed the latest
developments in the Palestinian lands and the repercussions of Israel's
continued aggression against the Palestinian people.
The minister and Larsen stressed the need for international action to stop the
violence and reinvigorate the Middle East peace process.
