Touqan briefs congressional delegation
on education achievements
Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khalid Touqan,
accompanied by a delegation of US congressional aides, visited the Princess Taghrid School
yesterday to assess the education department’s achievements. Touqan briefed the US delegates
on the country’s education system, noting that 98 per cent of the Kingdom children are now enrolled
in school, totalling 1.5 million students. He added that the ministry seeks to develop teachers’
technological skills by organising periodic ICDL and INTEL courses. Touqan said the ministry is
also working to increase the rates of children in the country’s kindergartens from 50 per cent to
80 per cent within next two years.
