Resignation of Fayez Cabinet
accepted
AMMAN (Petra) — A Royal Decree was issued on Tuesday accepting the resignation
of Faisal Fayez's government.
His Majesty King Abdullah told Fayez in a letter that he appreciated his efforts
since the inception of his government in November 2003.
“You and your colleagues have worked with sincerity and loyalty to achieve the
noble goals that we endeavour to realise through our plans and programmes,” King
Abdullah said.
“These plans were set within the context of our comprehensive vision of what
modern Jordan should be... through comprehensive development, whose positive
effects should reflect on all the segments of the society. Jordanians should
reap its fruits and benefit from its gains, enjoying free and decent life that
all citizens deserve,” the Monarch added.
“You have been up to my confidence. You have been honest, faithful, loyal and
capable of shouldering responsibilities,” the letter said.
“As you tendered your resignation that reflected the traits I have known in you:
Honesty, a deep sense of responsibility, and readiness for sacrifice and
self-denial, I accept this resignation, stressing my proud in you and your
colleagues, who shared the burden with you,” the King said.
Fayez yesterday was named Royal Court Chief and Chairman of the Board of
Trustees of the King Abdullah Fund for Development.
In the resignation letter, Fayez said he and his team sought to translate the
King's vision into facts on the ground by focusing on citizens as the centre and
the target of comprehensive development plans.
“Since day one, my colleagues and I exerted every genuine and sincere effort...
to implement Your Majesty's vision for the valuable Jordanian individual to be
at the core of our attention and the target of comprehensive economic,
political, social and administrative development,” he said.
Outlining the achievements his government sought to realise, Fayez cited a
“special and positive relationship” between the executive and legislative
powers, the establishment of a culture of reform, better ties with Arab nations
and support for the Palestinians in their pursuit to establish their viable and
independent state.
Meanwhile, King Abdullah sent a letter to Samir Rifai, who was succeeded by
Marwan Muasher as minister of Royal Court, expressing appreciation for his
performance.
“I extend my appreciation for what you have given and stress that you will
always be a close and respected confidant of ours,” the Monarch said.
Rifai yesterday was appointed as an adviser to King Abdullah.
Muasher was deputy Prime Minister and minister of state for prime ministry
affairs and government performance in Fayez's team.
