King to meet Assad today
Petra - His Majesty King Abdullah is
expected today to receive Syrian President Bashar Assad in Amman for talks on
the Arab summit and the current regional situation.
Syrian Information Minister Ahmad Hassan told the Jordan News Agency, Petra, in
Damascus that Assad's visit would enhance bilateral relations, highlighting the
two countries' strong ties.
Hassan rejected as baseless news reports claiming that booby-trapped cars were
driven into Jordan from Syria, adding that such allegations “were meant to harm
brotherly relations between Amman and Damascus.”
Hassan said the King and Assad are expected to come up with a decision to hold
the Jordanian-Syrian Committee meeting as soon as possible.
