Foreign minister discusses summit preparations
AMMAN (Petra) — Foreign Minister Marwan Muasher on Tuesday called his Moroccan counterpart Mohammad Ben Issa as part of Jordan's efforts to hold the Arab summit as soon as possible.
The two ministers discussed preparations for the summit, voicing optimism over the progress made so far. Muasher also called his Egyptian counterpart Ahmad Maher to check on his health after he was hospitalised. Meanwhile, Muasher received a telephone call from the European Union envoy for the Middle East peace process, Marc Oti, during which they discussed Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's unilateral plan to withdraw from the Gaza Strip. The two officials agreed that the withdrawal should be in line with the roadmap, leading to the establishment of the Palestinian state.
