Parliamentary delegation
concludes Cairo visit
CARIO (Petra) — A parliamentary delegation, headed by Lower House Speaker Abdul
Hadi Majali, on Thursday concluded a five-day visit to Egypt.
The delegation met with Arab League Secretary General Amr Musa before their
departure yesterday, and talks focused on the current Arab situation and the
latest developments on the postponed Arab summit.
Musa praised Jordan's stand and the intensified efforts exerted to enhance Arab
solidarity and cooperation.
Majali said meetings with senior Egyptian officials covered discussions on
bilateral relations, particularly parliamentary issues, the situation in Iraq
and the continued Israeli occupation of some parts of Syria and Lebanon.
Last Monday Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak received the delegation. Majali
presented the president with prospects of cooperation between the two countries'
parliaments and briefed him on the overall picture of Arab parliamentary
cooperation and its role in enhancing Arab solidarity.
