Volume of goods handled
at Aqaba rises by 4% to five million tonnes in three months
The Port of Aqaba handled around five million tonnes of goods during this year's
first quarter, four per cent higher than the 4.5 million tonnes handled during
the same period last year. According to Jordan Ports Corporation Director
General Awad Maayteh, 778 ships docked at the port during the January-March
period compared to 674 ships during the same period last year. The imports were
higher by nine per cent to 2.7 million tonnes from 2.5 million tonnes, Maayteh
indicated.
