Jordan strongly condemns 'brutal crime'

By Khalid Dalal, Jordan Times

AMMAN, April 18 - Jordan on Saturday strongly condemned Israel's “brutal” assassination of Hamas leader Abdelaziz Rantissi last night. “This is another heinous crime against the Palestinian people that will only lead to more rage, violence and bloodshed in the region,” Minister of State and Government Spokesperson Asma Khader told The Jordan Times. Khader said Jordan rejects and condemns “Israel's policy of military escalation and assassination of Palestinians.”

“The Israeli crime is another major obstacle hindering the achievement of a comprehensive and just peace in the region,” she added, stressing that such attacks violate human rights and international conventions. Khader urged the international community to assume its responsibility in bringing the peace process back on track and end the violence.
