| Arab bankers host meeting in Amman |
| AMMAN (J.T.) The general
assembly of the Federation of Arab Banks opened a meeting in Amman on Saturday to study
its plans for l999 and elect a new chairman. The 1999 agenda includes seminars and conferences and the establishment of a company to promote tourism between Arab states. Central Bank of Jordan Governor Ziyad Fariz, who opened the meeting on behalf of His Majesty King Abdullah, called for greater cooperation among Arab financial institutions to promote economic development in the region. Discussions will cover modern trends in marketing and banking services and challenges facing the Arab banks at the international level. Fariz presented a general review of Jordan's banks and their contribution to enhancing the national economy. Also addressing the opening session was the association's chairman, Hussein Mufti. |
