Iraq is Jordan's commercial ally — Zu'bi

Both countries are examining agreements on trade, investments and ways to avert dual taxation

AMMAN (Petra) — Industry and Trade Minister Sharif Zu'bi urged the Jordanian and Iraqi private sectors to enhance bilateral economic cooperation and commercial exchange as well as joint investment projects.

During a meeting on Wednesday with a delegation comprising representatives of the Iraqi media, Zu'bi invited the Iraqi private sector to increase its investments in the Kingdom and to take advantage of the incentives provided under the Investment Promotion Law.

The minister called on the Iraqi commercial and industrial sectors to open a new page for deepening relations and engaging in joint investments noting in this regard that “Iraq is Jordan's commercial ally.”

Underlining the role that the Iraqi media can play within this domain, Zu'bi indicated that both countries are examining several agreements on free trade, promotion and protection of joint investments and ways to avert dual taxation.

The Jordanian-Iraqi commercial exchange totalled JD815 million last year. Jordanian exports accounted for JD359 million of the total.
