King urges 'integrated
work plan’ to preserve Jerusalem
25,000 Gazan children in Jordan to be exempted from treatment charges
AMMAN (Petra) — King Abdullah on Monday called for an “integrated work plan to
enhance the endurance” of Jerusalemites and preserve the Holy City’s nature,
particularly Islamic and Christian shrines.
The King told heads of Jordanian societies and forums on Jerusalem at a meeting
that the Kingdom stands firm against Israeli digging near the Aqsa Mosque that
“dangerously threatens” Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem. Reiterating Jordan's
support for Jerusalemites, the Monarch said these societies and forums play a
“leading role to protect Jerusalem’s identity against Israeli schemes”.
He added that meeting challenges in Jerusalem requires “close coordination and
team work”.
King Abdullah also spoke about Jordan’s regional and international efforts to
help revive the Middle East peace process and establish an independent
Palestinian state.
In another development yesterday, the government decided to exempt Jordan’s
Gazan children under the age of six from charges for medical treatment. Minister
of Health Saad Kharabsheh said around 25,000 are expected to benefit from the
decision.
