Jordan Participates in
Preparatory Meeting of Iraq’s neighboring Countries
Sharm Al Sheikh, May 2 (Petra)—Iraq’s neighbouring countries started preparatory
meetings in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm Al Sheikh in preparation of the
conference, which will be held on Monday.
Jordan is represented in this meeting by its ambassador to Cairo Omar Rifai.
The meetings will focus on drawing up the final formula of the communiqué that
will be issued at the end of the conference.
The Arab vision on the Iraqi issue is based on resolutions of the Riyadh Summit
and calls for preserving Iraq’s unity, sovereignty and Arab and Islamic
identity.
The consultative meeting comes ahead of another conference on Iraq that will be
announced in Sharm Al Sheikh on Thursday in the presence of fifty foreign
ministers and representatives of international and regional organizations.
Jordan’s delegation to the two conferences will be led by Foreign Minister Abdul
Ilah Al Khatib.
