Ambassador Kawar Attends Grand Opening of Arab American Museum in Michigan

May 5th 2005, Washington, DC - Ambassador Karim Kawar participated today in the Arab American National Museums grand opening. The Museum -- the first dedicated solely to the preservation of Arab-American history -- will be located in Dearborn, Michigan, home to the Nations largest concentration of Arab Americans. Arab League Secretary General presided over the opening.

The Museum will showcase the rich and diverse heritage of the Arab American community, highlighting the contributions Arabs have made and continue to make in the United States.

A 38,500 square foot building on Michigan Avenue will lead visitors to a tiled fountain with artifacts from all over the U.S. and the Arab World. The Museum will preserve two main galleries.

Kawar will also met with Secretary General Amer Mousa and discussed developments in the region and US-Jordan bilateral relations during his visit to Dearborn.
