Vision of the Jordanian Parliament on Iraq

Amman, May 12 (Petra)--Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament, Abdul Hadi Majali proposed that an Iraqi national conference be held with the participation of representative of the political and social spectra and thought and cultural institutions with a view to launch a dialogue on challenges facing Iraq.

During meetings of the parliament speakers of Iraq's neighboring countries currently being held in Amman, Majali called for the participation of 1000 "loyal and qualified" Iraqi figures in the proposed conference. The speaker, who presented the vision of Jordan's parliament on the current Iraqi situation, underlined the importance of making the Iraqi national dialogue on the challenges that face Iraq, the topic of the conference. "Jordan's interest in Iraq focus on four dimensions and they include the political, economic andsocial interest, the regional dimensions, the position of Jordan and Iraq in the Arab system and the world dimension that is  related to the humanitarian role that Jordan believes in towards the international community," he added.
