Cabinet designates Maan Industrial City as a QIZ

AMMAN (Petra) — The Cabinet designated the Maan Industrial City as a Qualified Industrial Zone on Tuesday in a bid to develop the governorate and promote its economic activities.

Within the next five years, the estate covering 2,500 dunums, is expected to provide 7,500 job opportunities for the governorate's residents.

The project is estimated to cost JD8.5 million that will secured by loan from the Chinese government and by the Jordan Industrial Estate Corporation (JIEC).

The project will cater for several industries including automobile assembly and chemical plants, in addition to garments and textiles.

Companies investing in the industrial estates benefit from competitive prices, appropriate infrastructure and supplementary services, in addition to tax exemptions and other incentives under the Jordan Investment Promotion Law.

The investment volume at JIEC's industrial estates totalled JD1.2 billion while their exports amounted to JD622.5 million.

The Maan Industrial Estate is the fifth project by the JIEC after King Abdullah II Ben Al Hussein Industrial Estate in Amman, Al Hassan Industrial Estate in Irbid, Al Hussein Ben Abdullah II Industrial Estate in Karak and Aqaba International Industrial Estate.

JIEC has a strategy to establish new industrial estates within the following regions: Tafileh, Madaba, Ajloun, Muwaqqar, Dir Abi Said, Zarqa and Al Hasa.
