King meets Abizaid
AMMAN, May 13 (JT) - His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday received Lieutenant General John Abizaid, US Central Command chief, for talks on regional developments and bilateral cooperation, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Abizaid, who later met Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff General Khaled Sarayreh, told reporters that the US troops “will remain in Iraq until the situation is stable” after the June 30 transfer of sovereignty by the US-led coalition to the Iraqis, according to Petra.
Also yesterday, King Abdullah received director of the military cooperation at the French defense ministry, General Herve Giraud, for talks on Middle East issues.
