Preparations begin to hold AJEX 2006 next month

AMMAN (JT) — The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Jordan started preparations to hold the American Jordanian Expo (AJEX 2006) on June 7-8 under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah.

According to Azzam Shweihat, chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan,the expo will focus on the trade and investment in the participating countries and will discuss bilateral relations with the US.

The fourth conference and exhibition after the success of the previous events held in 2001, 2003 and 2004 will focus on the trade and investment in the participating countries and will discuss bilateral relations with the US.

Supported by a high profile marketing campaign, AJEX 2006 will bring together under one roof key policy-makers, business leaders and corporate representatives as well as AmCham’s officials and delegations from the US, Jordan and MENA countries such as Egypt, Lebanon, Bahrain and Morocco.

Besides promoting trade and investment between Jordan, the US and the region, AJEX 2006 will also focus on the emerging regional and sub-regional trade relations in the Middle East and North Africa, Shweihat indicated.

Under the theme “Consolidating Trade and Investment,” AJEX 2006 conference and exhibition will provide a valuable forum for countries in the region and the United States to unveil unique business initiatives and take advantage of these emerging business opportunities.

It will also offer attractive business-oriented sessions to showcase the region’s economic, commercial and investment potential.

Shweihat pointed out that the first day of the conference will cover topics on business potential of participating MENA countries and best prospects for US investments in each MENA country.

The second day will explore cooperation opportunities in the four sectors: Science and technology, real estate development and management, energy solutions and alternative technologies as well as capital markets, capital investment and venture capital.
