Fourth AJEX 2006 to be held June 7

AMMAN — The American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan (AmCham) will organise the Fourth American Jordanian Expo-AJEX 2006 on June 7- 8.

Delegations from US, Egypt, Lebanon, Bahrain, Morocco and Tunisia have confirmed their participation in the event.

According to Azzam Shweihat, chairman of AmCham-Jordan, the purpose of this event is to give the participants the chance to present the business environment in their countries and explore best prospects for US investments in each participating country. Shweihat told the reporters during a press conference held at the end of last week that “in addition, AJEX 2006 would allow the participating countries to present opportunities for bilateral and regional trade in goods and services.”

AJEX 2006 would include a conference, exhibition and catalogue show that would give the Jordanian, MENA and the US companies wide opportunities to promote their products and services through displays and catalogues.. The participating countries would discuss also perspectives for regional cooperation to enhance trade and investment opportunities and come up with regional-level recommendations on major trade issues affecting bilateral and regional trade and investment relations with the United States.

Abdali Investment and Development will sponsor the event as a platinum sponsor, Ayala Oasis Development Company as the gold sponsor. Other sponsors are Aqaba Development Company, Aqaba Special Economic Zone, and Arab Bank.

Shweihat said a significant time will be dedicated to explore cooperation and investment opportunities in four major sectors: Science and technology, real estate development and management, energy solutions and alternative technologies and capital markets, capital investment and venture capital.

This event would be a platform to announce many new investment agreements and would open the door for the investors to discuss the available opportunities for immediate action, the AmCham chairman concluded.
