Negotiations, not
unilateral moves, only way to make Mideast peace — King
WYOMING (Petra) — King Abdullah on Monday met with US Vice President Dick Cheney
in Jacksonhall for talks on bilateral relations and the latest developments in
the Middle East.
King Abdullah briefed Cheney on Jordan’s efforts to enhance development and
modernisation in the country. They also discussed Middle East issues, focusing
on the Palestinian and Iraqi situations.
The King said the US plays an important role in supporting efforts to revive the
Palestinian-Israeli peace process.
“Negotiations, and not unilateral moves, is the only way to achieve a just peace
in the region,” the King told Cheney.
On Iraq, King Abdullah reiterated that the formation of the Iraqi government was
an essential step towards building a secure and stable country.
