Commission calls for end
to Israeli excavations in Jerusalem
AMMAN (Petra) — The Royal Commission for Jerusalem Affairs has urged the
international community to intervene to stop Israeli excavations in the occupied
city of Jerusalem. The commission’s secretary general, Abdullah Kanaan,
expressed concern about Israel’s plans to carry out nine digs in the city.
Kanaan said Israel must stop its measures to Judaise the city and change its
Arab and Islamic identity. He said the commission would follow up on the
situation with the concerned regional and international parties.
