Gov’t to consider
establishing industrial estate in Mafraq
Minister of Environment Khalid Irani on Thursday said the government will
examine the possibility of establishing an industrial estate in Mafraq. Irani
said the ministry would make a full assessment of the proposed industrial
estate’s effect on the environment before endorsing the plan. During a visit to
the governorate yesterday, Irani said the ministry would examine the effects
that proposed projects have on the environment prior to issuing business
licences. Mafraq Governor Mahmoud Nueimat briefed the minister on the
governorate’s environmental problems, especially the presence of quarries in
Rweished. Talks also focused on property-related violations.
