Deputy Prime Minister Visits US next Week
AMMAN (Petra) — Jordanian businessmen signed 22
contracts during a recent visit to Morocco, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister
of Industry and Trade Mohammad Halaiqa announced Wednesday.
Halaiqa, who led the business delegation, said the contracts were distributed
among different sectors including veterinary medicines, cosmetics, food
industries, green houses, factories' automation and computer software.
Accompanied by 40 Jordanian businessmen during the visit, Halaiqa held several
meetings on bilateral economic relations and ways to activate outstanding
agreements.
The visit was in line with the drive by the Jordan Exports Development and
Commercial Centres Corporation and the Jordan Investment Board (JIB) to promote
the Kingdom's industries.
France, Malta, Tunisia and Morocco are going to be among the countries to take
part in Jordan's global village this summer, Halaiqa remarked.
The deputy prime minister is scheduled to visit the US next week to examine
issues related to revising the Free Trade Agreement signed by Jordan and the US
in 2000.
Jordan will push for reducing customs at a faster pace, in addition to
eliminating obstacles hampering the flow of goods between the two countries.
During the visit, Halaiqa will also take part in a seminar on investment
projects to be held in Chicago on June 10 to brief the gathering on the
country's investment environment.
