Badran holds
talks with IMF delegation
AMMAN (Petra) — Prime Minister Adnan Badran on Thursday met with a delegation
from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). During the meeting, the premier said
the government would maintain financial and monetary stability in the Kingdom to
sustain positive economic growth and build on the achievements implemented over
the past years, especially in relation to macroeconomic performance.
Discussions covered alternatives for the soaring prices of oil internationally and its effect on the general budget. Badran said the government, through its economic and financial policies, seeks to create a favourable investment climate to boost productivity, create job opportunities and increase exports. He also reviewed the government's debt reduction efforts. The IMF delegation commended the Kingdom's economic performance and its achievements. Minister of Finance Bassem Awadallah and Central Bank Governor Umayya Touqan attended the meeting.
