Implementation of Amman-Zarqa Railway Project to start within 2 months
 
ZARQA (Petra) — Prime Minister Adnan Badran on Monday said the implementation of Amman-Zarqa Railway Project would start within two months, pointing out that the consortium entrusted with carrying out the project was currently charting the route of the railway.

During a tour of Zarqa Governorate yesterday, the premier gave instructions for the establishment of a 1,000-dunum park in the Berene area, adding that the government would accelerate the construction of a new public hospital attached to the Hashemite University.

Accompanied by a ministerial team, Badran checked on the progress of work on the King Abdullah II Cultural Centre and announced that the government would allocate an additional JD1.5 million for the project.

The premier also requested the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation and the Ministry of Municipal Affairs to allocate the necessary funds to build a slaughterhouse in the governorate.

Zarqa Governor Thamer Fayez reviewed the demands of the governorate and its problems, such as unemployment, poverty and environmental conditions.

The premier and the ministerial team were acquainted with citizens' demands, which include increasing educational and health services and finding solutions for poverty and unemployment.

Social Development Minister Abdullah Oweidat announced the inauguration of three social development centres in the governorate, while Minister of Public Works and Housing Yousef Hiasat said a 2,000-dunum industrial estate near the Zarqa Free Zone would be established soon.

Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khalid Touqan said his ministry is planning to build 27 new schools in the governorate at the cost of JD22 million. He added that a new education department to be established in Zarqa would start operating by the next academic year.

Minister of Water and Irrigation Raed Abu Saud, Minister of Culture Asma Khader, Minister of Health Saeed Darwazeh, Minister of Agriculture Yousef Shreiqi, Interior Minister Awni Yarvas, Minister of Industry and Trade Sharif Zu'bi, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Suhair Al-Ali and Minister of Municipal Affairs Tawfiq Kreishan also accompanied Badran on yesterday's tour.
