Exports rise by 14.8% in
four months
AMMAN (Petra) — Exports rose by 14.8 per cent to JD770.5 million during the
first four months of this year, compared to JD671 million during the same period
of 2004. According to figures from the Department of Statistics, textiles topped
the list followed by pharmaceutical products. Exports to the US market totalled
JD231.6 million or 30.1 per cent of total exports followed by Iraq which bought
Jordanian products worth JD126.1 million. Imports surged by 30.4 per cent to
JD2,182.1 million during the January-April period of this year, from JD1,673.7
million in the corresponding period of last year. Totalling JD363.1 million,
crude oil ranked first among imported products as it accounted for 16.6 per cent
of the total imports.
